I am determined to finish this tomorrow (today I ended up a bit busier than I’d anticipated), but here’s a preview of why Yoshihira (Seimei’s son) had me going “T^T awww…” while reading:

(under a cut in case people want to wait for the entire translation/full scanlation)

Yoshi: This castle… and them, all of it was for my father…
Yoshi: But my father knows nothing of Tenkai, or Hiruko, or anyone else.
Yoshi: Oh, clouds… let fall your rain.
Yoshi: Mourn the deceased…

Yoshi: Tenkai… I know how you felt.
Yoshi: You became family head through tireless effort.
Yoshi: When you grew old, the others’ eternal youth was difficult for you, wasn’t it…
Yoshi: Hiruko… you did a good job suppressing ayakashi during the riotous Bakumatsu era…
Yoshi: You were reliable and showed promise, but unfortunately imperial rule was restored after a short time and you stepped down as family head…
Yoshi: Nagachika… Arihiro… Yasutada…
Yoshi: For your sakes, I… will endeavor to carry out this castle’s purpose.
Yoshi: I shall drive out the lowly throng that calls itself a Hyakki Yako!
Yoshi: From this castle of yours… Tenkai…

And then there’s this amazing scene later, when he’s battling Rikuo, and the two of them realize that they’re actually a lot alike (both quarter-yokai) but have ended up on different paths as a result of their parents/other people.

“This so-called blood is a curse… that is all we have received. You must understand the truth as well! That this body does not allow for a happy existence!!”

and, even later, after Rikuo wins…

“I have only been… protecting that man’s words for a thousand years… though he is that sort of person, he is my father. I wanted him… to acknowledge me…”
