Wow… browsing around random pages of Nuramago 208 made me realize yet again just how BAD Viz’s translations are. Evidently Yosuzume is male now, too! Not really any point in finishing my version now, but geez. Viz needs some translation checkers, stat (and some proofreaders too, while they’re at it…)
Some choice examples:
Viz version: “Tenkai, I do know what you do. You became leader through constant effort. It must have been hard to be old but immortal.”
My version: “Tenkai… I know how you felt. You became family head through tireless effort. When you grew old, the others’ eternal youth was difficult for you, wasn’t it…”
Viz version: “Stand and fight!!”
My version: “It’s an ambush!!”
Viz version: “Just what I hoped! We’ll beat ‘em aside!!”
My version: “Fine by me… we’ll just knock’em outta the way and keep going!!”
Viz version: “You’re tenuous. There’s no denying that.”
My version: “That’s some real tenacity… you must have experienced a lot…”
Viz version: “I’m sure Nura will do something…”
My version: “I’m sure… that Nura-kun will succeed.”
Viz version: “Even a child like you must have cursed… your half-yokai blood!!”
My version: “If a child like you keeps living, sooner or later you will also… curse your demi-yokai blood!!”
